Announcing our exciting new website!

March 11, 2010

Dear Zatoun community everywhere,

It is with great joy and expectation that Zatoun and Beit Zatoun have launched a new website (www.beitzatoun.org) to highlight the many exciting events at Beit Zatoun.

We are very thankful to two volunteers who gave copious amounts of time and experience to get the site to be user friendly, informative and practical. Some of the interactive features include:

  • view current, past and future events
  • add events to your Outlook or Gmail calendar
  • get new events and news automatically using RSS
  • link to Beit Zatoun's Facebook group, fan page and events
  • link to Flickr, YouTube and Twitter
  • view event photo galleries and news
  • submit stories, recipes, and comments
  • invite friends and community via social media links

This new site offers the Zatoun community a new level of web presence and social networking to further enhance our real presence in communities through the olive oil. Even for the many members who do not live in the Toronto area, we think there is much of interest to keep you visiting the site and seeing what new and exciting events are being cooked up.

Already there is so much interest generated from all quarters: people are offering workshops for debkeh folkloric dance, oud, drumming, embroidery, middle east music appreciation, reading club, etc. Not to mention the artists, photographers, musicians, poets, etc. Here is a sampling of the current events:

Very exciting indeed and we hope you can join us in person or via social media to help keep our widespread community linked together. Our mission as Beit Zatoun is to showcase the art and culture of Palestine and the Middle East. When we share the art and culture of another there is no room for injustice or hatred. Experience leads to appreciation, turns to compassion which brings us to justice and peace. The olive oil has now been joined by art and culture - how peaceful!
