A talk by Basel Ghattas, Palestinian member of Israeli Knesset

A fundraiser for the Women’s Boat to Gaza, with the Canadian Boat to Gaza and friends

The Canadian Boat to Gaza is proud to join with other civil society groups to present a talk at Beit Zatoun by Palestinian parliamentarian Dr. Basel Ghattas, who is attending the World Social Forum in Montréal and will continue with a  series of fundraising events to support the current Woman’s Boat to Gaza campaign.

Dr. Ghattas is a Palestinian member of the Israeli Knesset (MK), one of 13 MKs elected from the Joint Arab List that unified the Palestinian Arab vote in the 2015 Israeli general election. MK Ghattas also sailed with the 2015 Freedom Flotilla to Gaza on board the Swedish ship Marianne, which was violently intercepted by the Israeli navy, in international waters.

Dr. Ghattas is in Canada for World Social Forum  and has spoken in a number of cities about the present state of democracy in Israel as it relates to Palestinian human rights, the occupation, and on-going efforts to break the blockade of Gaza.
