Film: Genocide Agenda: The Rohingya

Saturday, November 19, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

| $5

Film followed by Discussion and Q&A

Genocide Agenda is an al-Jazeera documentary based on a recent study by the International State Crime Initiative (ISCI) at the Queen Mary University of London (UK) which concluded that the Rohingya people in Myanmar/Burma are a persecuted and unrecognized minority.

Decades of discrimination and disenfranchisement have given way to ethnic cleansing and continued acts of violence against the Rohingya. Movement is restricted, and most Rohingya are sequestered in camps under heavy guard.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Aung San Suu Kyi has not spoken out against the violence that the Rohingya endure in Burma, claiming she did not think they were Burmese citizens. The Rohingya are Muslims and were taken off the official list of Burma’s recognized minorities.

Given the attitude towards Muslims by President-elect Donald Trump, this film is a timely and current reminder of what can and does happen to people seen as less-than.

See this important film. A discussion and Q&A period will follow.
