Ama Luna, a Central American poet originally from Izalco, El Salvador, was born on February 22, 1963. She emigrated to Canada in December 1976. Author of the unpublished book of poems, Poesia con Amor, has attended and participated in literary workshops and conferences, including the VIII Encuentro de Mujeres Poetas in Colombia. She founded poetic groups such as “Entres Amigos” and “The Friends of the PoeTree,” which organizes monthly poetry readings in Toronto, and takes part in innumerable festivals ad readings organized by different communities around the city. Her poems have appeared in the anthology Selección Poética (Colombia) dedicated to women’s poetry, as well as in local newspapers and magazines.

Andre Prefontaine is the only two-time consecutive Canadian Underground Poetry Slam Champion (2012-2013) and former team captain of the Toronto Poetry Slam team which won the 2014 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. He’s emerged victorious from many Haiku Death Matches and garnered the nickname “Hurricane Sassy” from a caustic wit that never fails. Published in North America’s queer anthology “Flicker and Sparkle” his life experiences propels him to connect to the disenfranchised for reasons no better stated than “it takes one to know one.” His performances are piñatas of high energy bursting laughs throughout the room; brace yourself for one heck of a wild ride, Hurricane Sassy comes this way.
